The Surah · In Three Parts
One hundred and eighty-two verses, read in three sittings. The surah moves from a questioning that stops men in place, through the argument between those who followed and those who led, into the house of Ibrahim and the command he was given about his son, and closes on the messengers and the peace given to them.
Part One The ranks, the guarded heaven, and a questioning where nobody is allowed to walk past. The blame traded between the followers and the ones they followed, and a man in the Garden who finds the friend who almost took him down. Nuh answered, then Ibrahim against his people's idols, the fire, the request for a son, and the command that came in a dream. Musa and Harun, Ilyas against Ba'l, Lut, and Yunus in the belly of the fish. Then the closing rebuttal and the peace upon the messengers.Verses 1 to 74
